This report was originally written as a submission by Community Aid Abroad to the inquiry by the Australian parliament's Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs Defence and Trade into Australia's relationship with the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Contains a case study on debt crisis in the Philippines and a chapter on limitations and problems with the current approach to debt problems, using Mexico as a model. The final chapter considers the 14 recommendations for Australia's representatives on the IMF.
