July 17, 1776 Declaration of Governor William Franklin's allegiance to Great Britain, in which he challenged the authority of the Provincial Congress and rejected any allegiance to the colonists. He was responding to the declaration by the Provincial Congress that Franklin was "an enemy to the liberties of this country," and his ordered arrest. Of note, this was Benjamin Franklin's son. This publication is missing the postscript included with other versions of this letter.
