The book, I'm Coming Home, is about a young American teenage boy that is drafted into the army during World War II. He is sent immediately across the German border on an urgent mission. Once he arrives, he soon realizes that he is very scared and confused. He leaves the army when his friend Kenny was threatened to be Court Marshaled by their unconventional captain. Captain Johnson is known for his cruel and unusual punishments delivered to his regimen. With the help of Pedro, the leader of the outcasts, (a group of previously deserted soldiers) he is given a chance to come home.
