"Lucanus: Prodigal Son" is the third novel in Juliana Rew's Unwinding Series. The cosmic disruption known as The Unwinding leaves the galaxy's scattered survivors to pick up the pieces. The time-traveling Watchmen discover an unlikely ally in the human Lucanus, the renegade son of the Masquat Empire. Home after years of space exploration, Lucanus has grown restless. He leaves along with his mother and Dog to establish a colony on a new planet, developing an advanced artificial intelligence along the way. His respite is short-lived, however, as destructive cosmic events threaten the region, so he returns to the capital planet; but when he discovers the source of the Unwindings, Lucanus and his AI must join with the Watchmen to cement a truce between warring universes.
