How do two English virginalists go about it when they write variations on the same popular theme, "John come kiss me now"? By applying systematically the paradigmatic method of analysis, the author identifies and compares the features which characterize the style of each composer. From this procedure, the author derives certain conclusions as to the interpretation and the appreciation of these two works.
