This collection contains a diary kept by Eva March Tappan from 1873 to 1918. Tappan includes short stories, tales, poems, articles, and other writings. She wrote notes on the margins indicating if a story or article was published, alongside the date, name of journal, and place where she wrote it. Journals in which she published include "The Boston Journal," "Youth's Companion," "The Watchman," and "The Churchman," among others. Some titles of her works include "My Story-Books," "Me and Katie," "Resignation," "The First Water-Lily," "A Batrachian Tale," and more. The notebook also contains one poem written by Tappan when she was six and a half years old.
