Viral Infection Risk to Pre-hospital Emergency Workers

The occupational classification of pre-hospital worker (PHEW) includes ambulance officers, paramedics, firefighters, police and volunteers. This paper will assess the true level of risk for contracting Hepatitis B (HBV), Hepatitis C (HCV) and Human Immunodeficiency (HIV) to which this group is exposed by conducting a comprehensive literature search and empirical study of available information relating to this subject.
