Interview with Joan Margaret Cannon

Joan Cannon nee Stewart was born in Geraldton in 1916 and in 1936 completed her training at Claremont Teachers' College. Her second posting after she graduated was to the Perenjori School for six months in 1937. In 1943 she married Arthur Cannon, the son of Cecil and Clarice [Ellie] Cannon who were early settlers of the Perenjori district. After their marriage Joan and Arthur Cannon ran the store at Bunjil from 1943 to 1949. In 1949 they commenced farming on their property six miles north west of Caron where they remained until they retired early in the 1980s. They had four children between 1944 and 1951.
