A scrapbook of newspaper articles of speeches given by James Armstrong, a colonel in the Confederate Army. One speech is before the Association of Ex-Confederate Surgeons and another is at South Carolina University for Founder's Day. The articles are pasted over a book of poetry, the last 12 pages of which are uncovered. One long poem, entitled "After Ten Years" is about a group of ex-Confederate cavalrymen vising Columbia, South Carolina in 1873.
