Résumé du livre
In 1865 Jules Bernard Luys published his Recherches sur le système nerveux cérébro-spina: sa structure, ses functions, et ses maladies. This book represented the beginning of knowledge of thalamic function. The work contained Luy's descriptions of the two structures which bear his name: the subthalmic nucleus and the centre median of the thalamus, along with an atlas of lithographic plates. When some of Luys' colleagues disputed his findings Luys decided to take photographs of his specimens as more incontrovertible proof. In 1873 Luys published the first large-scale photograph atlas of the anatomy of the brain-- Iconographie photographique des centres nerveux. This work contains 70 photographs of brain sections taken by Luys himself, with 64 schemas based on his drawings.--J. Norman, 2006.
