Résumé du livre
With this two-part exhibition - half of it running in New York, while the other is to be opened in Los Angeles late in May - the Gagosian Gallery marks the 80th birthday of Yayoi Kusama, an icon of the art of the latter half of the 20th Century. This event is made even more intriguing by the fact that these are not retrospections, but exhibitions of new works created over the past few years, with many a true gem among them. The installation Aftermath of Obliteration of Eternity (2009) is highlighted as one of the centrepieces of the exhibition; it employs simple principles of optical illusion to draw the spectator into a mysterious infinity of shimmering lights.
