Résumé du livre

The Ralph E. and William W. Becker Collection of American Political Campaign Materials was begun by Ralph E. Becker in the years following World War II. The collection contains campaign materials, media and ephemera from the 20th century as well as some 19th century material including newspapers, cartoons, and Currier and Ives broadsides. These materials chronicle New Hampshire, Vermont and national presidential primaries and general elections from the mid 19th century to the 1970s, with the bulk of the material pertaining to elections during the 1960s and 1970s. In 1961 Ralph donated the material to the Smithsonian Institution where it became the Ralph E. Becker Collection of Political Americana. In the early 1970s the collection gained new accessions reflecting recent election cycles by James Day, class of 1971. Subsequently, Mr. Becker donated the collection to the Dartmouth College Museum for an exhibit at the Hanover Inn which was curated by his son William W. Becker, class of 1964.
