This book contains a series of articles on the history and culture of Indochina, the refugee "crisis", first asylum and permanent resettlement in Canada. Section 1 contains contributions on the history and culture of all three countries, together with a piece on the overseas Chinese communities in Southeast Asia. Section 2 has historical and geographical surveys of Indochina. There is also an article on the effects of the refugee exodus on countries of first asylum. In addition to an account of the Canadian Government's resettlement policies and programmes, section 3 contains articles on the integration problems of the refugees in Canada, covering cultural adaptation, community organization, economic integration and psychiatric problems.
