Caleb Carter was born ca. 1769 in Virginia, son of Levi and Susanna Carter. He married first Phebe Williams, 17 March 1798 in Greene Co., Tennessee. She died before 1808 leaving Caleb with three young children. He married second Rachel Templeton, 18 March 1809 in Greene County, Tennessee. They also had children. Caleb died in the period of 1840-50 in Tennessee.
