Résumé du livre
Pp. 13-390 contain the text of letters written by Edith Hahn (b. 1914 in Vienna) in 1941-42 to her relatives and friends in Vienna from labor camps in Osterburg and Aschersleben in Germany. In 1942, her mother was deported to Minsk; she did not survive. Pp. 391-402 present letters written by her mother. Pp. 7-12 and 403-466 give information about her life before the war and from 1942-48. From 1942-45 Hahn lived in Germany on "Aryan" papers. She worked as a nurse's aide in a Red Cross hospital. She met and married a German, a member of the Nazi Party, and lived with him in Brandenburg, also giving birth to a daughter. After the war they divorced; she emigrated to England with her daughter, married a Jewish man, and after her husband's death she emigrated to Israel.
