For most settlers in the 1850s, an Indian absence understandably was much preferable to his presence. Not so with Nick Wilson. In 1856, while a few months short of twelve, he left home, and for the next two years he lived exclusively among the Shoshone Indians. His experiences of that period form the major part of this autographical book.
