Résumé du livre
This report begins by discussing and summarising important Aboriginal education research themes within the categories of culture, language and the curriculum, showing how research into Aboriginal learners and English language has overlapped with wider movements in English curriculum and educational equity within Australia. The author argues that the new movements in 'new literacies' and 'multiliteracies' have the potential to create spaces for a more inclusive and socially just curriculum, and considers what this might mean for classrooms where there are Aboriginal learners. This section discusses supportive practices for Aboriginal learners, distinguishing between the needs of early and older Aboriginal learners and concluding by linking syllabus for Aboriginal learners with current research into pedagogy and educationally disadvantaged students. The report concludes with a series of recommendations for the English 7-10 Syllabus under the headings: principles; assessment; syllabus pedagogy; and syllabus content. [Summary, ed].
