Appalachia is rich in natural resources but the residents are poverty stricken and have limited access to restricted resources. With increased rates of cancer from the power plants and sludge ponds, Appalachians are at a disadvantage when it comes to many things but in particular, access to health care, including dental and mental health resources, are horribly inadequate.
