A summary of the Spanish voyages to Alaska in the late 18th Century with extensive background information. The voluime contains English translations from thirty of the officer's journals kept during their visits to Alaska. These journals contain extensive descriptions of the Natives and Russian fur traders, and their interaction with the Spanish voyagers. There are eight charts showing the routes of these voyages, ten appendices, a bibliography and subject index and hundreds of explanatory footnotes.
