Résumé du livre

German photographer Horst Hamann first visited New York in 1979, in what turned out to be a formative experience. He has since become a kind of New York specialist. In 1997 he published his award-winning photobook New York Vertical, stark black-and-white compositions in vertical panoramas. His most recent New York project is completely different: small, seemingly unspectacular, and for the first time in color. The night of September 10 to 11, 2002, Hamann walked down Broadway with his Leica Digilux. One year after 9/11, be began his marathon at sunset in Harlem. Proceeding south, 164 blocks and 12 hours later he arrived at Battery Park at sunrise. His book is a block-to-block, minute-to-minute documentation of one night in the life of New York's "Great White Way."
