Résumé du livre

Eight types of water samples were obtained from the Paraho above-ground oil shale retort. These samples include three from different sampling sites on the retort, two from different sites in the oil storage facilities, and three samples from different sites at the evaporation pond. Analyses of the pH, oxidizing capacity as Eh, conductivity, alkalinity, ammonia, total sulfur, and thiosulfate are described. Also, the results of these analyses are presented for water samples prepared and stored by different methods. Special methods were developed for the conductivity analysis. The results for the total sulfur analysis are doubtful; a number of problems are still to be solved for this analysis. The water parameters that appear to be most vulnerable to handling and storage are the pH and conductivity.
