Résumé du livre
Alicia 'Al' Montgomery, schizophrenic struggling actress by day and budding playwright by night, is having a quarter life crisis. Still mourning the loss of her father, Al fears she couldn't handle another blow after a recently flubbed audition. As the disparity grows Al is convinced that even her engagement to rising star Joseph Lange has a sad ending written all over it. In her mind her failures are piling up on the boulevard of broken Hollywood dreams. When friends recommend a "Salvage the Damage" couples' retreat under the guise of a group vacation Al and Joe take them up on the offer except things don't go as planned. Joe, stuck on set, is delayed with filming leaving an alone Al to fill the role of fifth wheel. In an attempt to escape the love fest Al finds she is drawn to a neighboring island believing it'll offer her the solace she seeks. However, once on the island Al can't leave it. It won't let her. There's a battle brewing within her mind. Is it paranoia or is there some truth to her fear? She's not alone. There's something out there and it's watching her by day, hunting her by night.
