For all conditions investigated, a simple equation for the jet velocity for maximum power from a basic turbine-propeller engine gave a value of jet velocity quite close to that calculated by use of the optimum jet pressure ratio from the charts. The accuracy of using the inlet-diffuser pressure ratio for optimum jet pressure ratio depended largely on the values of component efficiencies and flight conditions.
