Résumé du livre

This study explored possible connections between Columbus, Ohio, respondents' residential environment and their social and political orientations. The study contains a combination of survey and aggregate data. The individual interviews probed the respondents' views on a wide variety of social and political issues of both local and national relevance. The respondents' social and political activism, their political preferences, and their positions on civil rights issues were ascertained, as well as their opinions of the city's and the federal government's performances. Demographic information covers the respondents' age, race, religion, marital status, level of education, employment status, and occupation. The aggregate data were extracted from the 1960 Census tract returns for the sampling areas, locating each individual in a particular social, political and economic context.
