Résumé du livre
Description: The collection consists of a typescript of an autobiography, dealing mostly with William Dawson Brown's life in Indiana. Although not a Quaker, Brown's mother came from a large Quaker family, and the autobiographical journal has considerable information on Quaker neighbours and relatives. The original journal is in the possession of Brown's great grand-daughter, Mrs Mary Ellen (Winters) Kling (Joseph) in Portland, Oregon. The journal describes the family move from Ohio to Indiana, births and deaths in the family, pioneer frontier life in the early nineteenth century, religious faith, and travelling experiences in Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Missouri. Pages 1-79 are written by William; the remaining 9 pages are written by his daughter Viola after her father's death.
