Résumé du livre

This book is a sequel to the first of the BJ Conner series entitled The Doggedly Determined. In the first book, BJ is approached by the State child welfare agency asking if he'd be willing to take his two great-grandchildren, ages 6 and 9, who were removed from their heroin-addicted mother. Both children have suffered extreme abuse and neglect and none of the other family members want anything to do with them. This book is the latest from Wisconsin author Bob McCurdy. This sequel to The Doggedly Different picks up four years later with BJ, his partner Sarah, Julie now age 14, and Scott who's almost twelve. It's early in June when Julie is maliciously beaten and raped by the father of two children she's caring for. The story tells about what the family goes through in trying to help her recover both physically and emotionally. Some new characters are introduced, one of them being a mixed-breed dog named Patches. The other two are an older couple who are dealing with some serious challenges of their own. Their interconnectedness adds some meaningful perspectives.
