Résumé du livre

CHEROKEE ROOTS is a must for those interested in verifying their Cherokee Ancestry. It is written by Bob Blankenship, a member & recent chairman of the Tribal Council, Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, Cherokee, North Carolina. Mr. Blankenship's first edition of CHEROKEE ROOTS has remained in print since 1978. The 1978 edition dealt with the Cherokee Nation before the removal to Oklahoma in 1838, & the Eastern Cherokee since that event known as the "Trail of Tears". This new edition of CHEROKEE ROOTS consists of two volumes which greatly enhance one's ability to search out & find that direct link to his or her Cherokee ancestors. Volume I (Eastern Rolls) is greatly expanded in content & improved in format over the original edition. It consists of eleven different rolls covering the period 1817-1924. The 1924 Baker roll upon which the present day membership of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is based is included. Volume II (Western Rolls) is a new volume which consists of four major rolls (1851-1914), including a never before published combination Guion Miller & Dawes Roll. The Dawes Roll (1898-1914) serves as the present day basis for enrollment with the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.
