Concerning the progress of two of his pupils, David Livingstone and Joseph Moore. David Livingstone was interviewed by the Directors of the London Missionary Society in August 1838, when they accepted him, on probation, as a potential missionary. He was sent to Rev. Richard Cecil, at Chipping Ongar in Essex to learn Latin, Greek, and Theology. After this he was to go to Theological College and then complete his medical studies. This letter appears to be an early report from Cecil to the Directors of the Mission on Livingstone's progress.
