Résumé du livre
This publication documents the proceedings of a workshop that had the objective of laying the groundwork for the development of an adaptive management plan for hillslope, riparian, & in-stream restoration that incorporates effectiveness evaluations, feedback to management, and provision for changes in the British Columbia Watershed Restoration Program when & where necessary. The workshop opened with plenary sessions to establish the workshop purpose, set the stage for discussions, and reach common understanding of a framework for more detailed discussions regarding application of the adaptive management process. These included discussion of a conceptual framework illustrating the pathways by which restoration activities might meet restoration goals. This was followed by discussions by three sub-groups of participants that considered: sediment management activities & sediment supply/transport; hydrology/water management activities and the hydrologic regime; and vegetation management activities, vegetation growth, and large woody debris supply & transport. Each subgroup discussed how the adaptive management approach could be used to increase knowledge regarding the success of these restoration activities in achieving Program goals. At the end of the workshop, the subgroups returned to plenary for final integration and review of lessons learned.
