A brief biography of William Gipson that appeared in "A Hoosier listening post", a column written by journalist Kate Milner Rabb. Sergeant William Gipson, born in 1753, was a native of Monck's Corner, South Carolina and a veteran of the Revolutionary War. Sergeant Gipson enlisted in 1777 in Rowan County, North Carolina and served with in the company of Captain James Armstrong. After the war, Gipson moved to Indiana, settling in the town of Thorntown. He passed away in 1835.
