Development of a Preview Control System for the DRES Active Suspension Research Vehicle

This document summarizes work carried out to develop a preview control system capable of determining the profile of the ground ahead of the Canadian Forces Iltis utility vehicle and feeding this information back to the active suspension system in order to improve its ability to enhance vehicle ride and handling performance. Work included a literature review, preview system development, design and procurement, computer simulation and control scheme development, installation, and testing. Details of the system are described in companion reports which are referred to in the body of this report.
