Résumé du livre

In this fictional account of life during the war years, our heroine overcomes a difficult childhood and ends up working on an American Air Force Base. Believing she has found true love, Lynn follows her heart to New Jersey to be reunited with the man she imagines will be her knight in shining armour. But life - and a heartless, callous man - let her down with a terrible jolt. Somehow, she picks herself up, dusts herself down, and begins to live a double life - doing menial work by day and mixing in show business circles and having an affair with a celebrated Hollywood movie star by night. Eventually Lynn finds stability when she trains as a nurse and gives us a fascinating insight into the bottom of the health heap: the US public health sector. Having survived some of the hardest blows life can deal, Lynn somehow keeps her faith in humanity and in herself, emerging ready to face the future, whatever it may hold.
