Résumé du livre

"This work is a panorama of some 60 artist's books designed and fashioned by Jean-Claude Loubières from 2003 to 2020. In the first section, the book lays out the foundations of this artist's work: his notion of the artist's book, his concern to practice all the trades of the book creation chain, his intention to concentrate on the materiality of the book, the perpetual interplay between image and text. The second section outlines the main themes that mark the artist's work: the relationship with art, folk arts and everyday art, the relationship with nature and science, the perpetual play in this work between legible, invisible and illegible, the artist's special interest in photographic images and the apparatus that create them. As books are a form of exchange, Loubières devotes some of his works to this facet so essential to our lives. The book then discusses the devices that Jean-Claude Loubières employs, which are crucial to the creation of his artist's books and the concrete materialisation of his projects: the format, paper, typography and assembly as well as printing methods as a metmorphosis of the image. Then the final section provides a transversal interpretation of the artist's works: the poetics that reveal the least expected links that are placed between elements which, at first glance, seem to have little to do with one another, the humour that flows from this process, the artist's close attention to his environment, his art of giving life to certain traces of time and history."--Back cover.
