Henry Smith (1879-1962) immigrated from The Netherlands (via Ellis Island) to Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1905, and then moved to land near Pipestone, Minnesota. He married katie Kadyk, and in 1942 they moved to land near Pease or Milaca, Minnesota. Descendants and relatives lived in Michigan, Minnesota, South Dakota and elsewhere. Descendants of some of Henry's relatives in The Netherlands later immigrated to Ontario and elsewhere in Canada, using "Smid" as the surname spelling
