Résumé du livre
Large enterprises have a significant impact on the Canadian economy and are consequently likely to be included in most of Statistics Canada's various business surveys. Incomplete and/or inaccurate reporting by these enterprises can substantially impact the quality of the estimates produced by the agency. It is therefore important to ensure that the survey information provided for individual business units within an enterprise is consistent with the consolidated income statement and balance sheet data provided for the enterprise as a whole. Over the last number of years Statistics Canada has been analyzing the coherence of its business statistics. This analysis has ranged from case studies of large enterprises to analysis of head office and ancillary unit data as well as smaller complex enterprises. This paper presents the reader with the highlights of these analyses, the main impediments to producing coherent data and what measures and processes a statistical agency can adopt to move toward producing more coherent data.
