Résumé du livre

A guitar method book series focusing on the fundamentals of music academics: traditional sight-reading skills, the optimal posture for fastest learning, the professionally accepted conventions for flatpicking and fingerpicking, and a recommended regimen for learning chords as accompaniment (strumming/fingerpicking). Volume 1 establishes the optimal playing posture and demonstrates logically why this is superior to typical posture. Then Volume 1 introduces and builds sight-reading fluency via an abundance of gradually paced songs and etudes demonstrating: all the natural notes on strings one through three (in first position), note durations (whole, half and quarter notes), time signatures (4/4 and 3/4), duets, rests, repeats, da capo al fine, pickup measures (anacrusis). Included are dozens of examples in each of these areas to keep the student progressing, incrementally growing from lesson to lesson, challenged with new material, and ensuring reading fluency (instead of sheer memorization). An optional section on introducing and practicing chords is provided for strumming and fingerpicking (G, C, D, D7, Em, Am, Am7). Over 180 photographs, more than 20 illustrations, over 200 sight reading songs and exercises, more than 30 chord progression exercises. Printed in a slightly larger font for ease of reading for all ages. An accurate and straightforward approach to guitar study for private instruction or classroom use. Contents tested in both settings for 15 years; proven 98% success rate across thousands of students (ages 7-84).
