TV adaptation of Handke's novel, Short Letter, Long Farewell. A young Austrian man, who flees to America to escape a painful divorce, discovers that he is being pursued by his ex-wife. He flees, she follows, and soon the couple is running circles around each other across America, ending in an encounter with 76-year old American director, John Ford, at his Bel Air estate.
