Extensive hearings were held in the fall of 2003 on the health-related aspects of prescription drugs. This report addresses 3 key issues relevant to prescription drugs in Canada: clinical trials, post-market surveillance and direct-to-consumer advertising. Building on information provided by witnesses at the hearings, the report focusses on the federal responsibility in each area.
