Résumé du livre

No one today disputes the existence of the Arab world, the Arab nation, pan-Arabism, and quite simply: the Arabs. Does this Arab nation really exist, or is it imaginary? Does it exist only in the minds and writings of Arab nationalists? Is this Arab world not the creation of colonial will between France and England at the beginning of the 19th century, through the famous Sykes-Picot Agreement? So many questions that can be justified historically, but despite everything, whether it is a utopia or a colonial promise, does this Arab world not really exist? Whether we are talking about the Arab Middle East, the Arab Maghreb, the Arab Gulf countries, the Arab League, or simply the Arab world, this world exists nonetheless! Today, it comprises twenty-two sovereign and independent states (in form??) and stretches from the Atlantic Ocean in the west to the Arabian Gulf (or Arabian Persian Gulf) in the east. It is united in a formal alliance, the Arab League, created at the end of the Second World War, modelled on the United Nations. A world that is not homogeneous in its culture, politics, or even economy, composed of several ethnic groups, communities, and races. A cosmopolitan and multi-faith world, today's three prophets come from this world, as did all the other so called prophets of the past: Noah, Joseph, Abraham, etc. etc., right up to the imaginary story of the creation of our origins by Adam and Eve. If we apply today's contemporary right to nationality to the prophets of the past, whether it be the right of descent (by blood) or the right of soil, can we not say that all these prophets are Arabs!!! in soul and in thought!! It is not surprising that they all come from this world, the Orient of dreams and fables, the Orient of myths and a thousand and one nights! Since the promise made to Sharif Hussein of Mecca to create a united Arab kingdom and, at the same time, the famous Balfour Declaration to create a Jewish national home in Palestine, this world has been the center of all the wars and conflicts of our time. Multiple wars, sometimes waged in the sacred name of religion, or wars of liberation, Israeli Arab wars, Israeli Palestinian wars, or civil wars between communities, religions, and races within the same state, even generational conflicts. What the world is experiencing today, such as horrors, violence, attacks, jihad, massacres and crimes of extermination, are due to the sudden awakening of a new generation of anger, dormant for centuries in a deep slumber, a generation of anger now lost between two ideologies: - on the one hand, a divine ideology that promises a return to a glorious past of conquest, a nostalgia for Andalusia flourishing under Muslim rule, a return to the values of Islam at the time of the Prophet, and the rejection of any Westernization of the Arab world (which must be Muslim). - on the other, an ideology, equally divine in its thinking, of Arab nationalism, secular, open to all modernity and change, if it does not affect the integrity of the sacred sovereign of the state, the supreme and revered leader of the nation. A generation lost between a divine theory of a world of happiness elsewhere, in an eternal paradise, to reach which one must make sacrifices, obey the laws of God and Islam, and if you want a first-class paradise, in the company of God's eternal virgins, take the path of suicidal jihad! On the other hand, there is a theory as divine as the first, a revolutionary theory in its doctrine, embodied by its powerful god, father of the nation, and supreme guide to happiness in his paradise kingdom, if you benefit from his blessing. Finally, despite everything, there remains in this world of mystery a constant feeling of hope: the belief in belonging to the Arab nation, a deep sense of being Arab. Despite everything, deep in the soul of every Arab citizen there remains the hope of a new awakening, an awakening that is certainly not for tomorrow, but no matter how long it takes, it will come! This is certain and will not be so long in coming, despite a rather violent Arab Spring, a spring that risks changing all the archaic structures of the past, all tribal and traditional customs, with the possibility of ethnic, religious and sectarian division in the current states of the Arab world. Everything depends on the armed forces that are fighting and the interests of regional and international powers. It is a dark period, which may end with the breaking up of current borders, or even the birth of new states and the Yugoslavization of certain countries. It is a saga to be followed, in which the roles of the actors cannot be determined in advance.
