This handbook is intended as an aid to local economic development agencies and others who might become involved in the process of technology diffusion from federal laboratories. It provides a listing of such facilities by geographic area and a brief description of the research carried out in each. I t also describes mechanisms to identify and exploit technology transfer opportunities. Methods whereby local authorities and individuals might supplement and complement technology transfer mechanisms already in place through various government and university programs are also examined.
