Résumé du livre
From the ceilings of the library of the University of Strasbourg hang here and there gold shimmering ribbon bookmarks - each of which is handmade and unique. With a quiet and quiet presence fitted into the architecture of the entire building, only the shorter end of the gold ribbon looks out of the circular ceiling opening. The longer part of the work disappears in the diffuse grey of the drilled ceiling and refers to the empty space of an imaginary book. With his art-on-construction project "Archive of Unwritten Books", Martin Bruno Schmid presents a highly subtle work that intervenes with precision and restraint into the overwhelming, five-story atrium of the university library. Inaccessible, but still facing the visitor, Schmid's archive forms not least an imaginary space, which not only represents a mental extension of the library spanning over 70,000 books, but also calls into consciousness the essence of the house itself - discover, research, learn, recognize and share. An ode and tribute to the abiding value of knowledge and knowledge.
