Résumé du livre
This thesis explores philanthropy today and the related services offered in private banking. In the past few decades philanthropic activities have taken on new and more sophisticated, social and goal oriented approaches such as venture philanthropy and impact investing. As a result new opportunities have arisen for financial experts and wealth managers to offer advice to both benefactors and beneficiaries. The study indicates that there is a growing pool of wealthy and very wealthy potential customers with a wish to be active philanthropically and many who are interested in non-traditional giving. Both Switzerland and Liechtenstein provide attractive environments for philanthropic activities, building on a long history of stable government and of furnishing a home for philanthropic vehicles. Their private banks are well positioned and have the expertise to tap this market and are indeed starting to do so. The banks' approaches however vary considerably and the challenge for many will be to grasp this opportunity.
