Is there no place in our devotional life for the ordinary Christian believers who have experienced the grace of God in an extraordinary way? Can't we, in fact, see the Lord himself, reflected in his servants, and understand more readily what God can do with human nature? Bruce Shelley sets out to answer these questions by examining the testimony and teaching of 52 men and women who have walked with God. Mindful of the fact that Protestants have no official roster of saints, no way to canonize them, and no practice of praying to them, Shelley returns to the days of the apostles when "saint" meant a Christian--any Christian.
