Papers, December 8, 1770-November 23, 1993, regarding a scheme to cede the Cherokee lands devised by Edward Wilkinson, Richard Pearis, and Alexander Cameron and prevented by John Stuart, Superintendent for Indian Affairs in the Southern District of America, include: Plat, 8 December 1770, certified by Patrick B. Calhoun as South Carolina Deputy Surveyor for Indian lands, most of which lay in what is now known as Greenville County, South Carolina, which the Cherokee Nation proposed to convey to King George III of England; and transcription, 23 November 1993, of "Map of Lands Near the Salud [sic] River Showing Reservations Made for Cherokee Half Breeds: With Surveyors Certificate" with notes by E.D. Sloan, Jr.
