Résumé du livre
* Do you know who is a "docksucker"? * If the grass is greener on the other side, what do you do with it? * How do you know what your blind date will look like? Perfume and Underwear holds those answers and many more for you. More enlightening than educational, the author's musings will keep you laughing as they also keep you thinking "I wish I'd said that!" Touching on everything from basic manners and money-handling skills all the way to sea-worthiness and sex, Sherwood lets all of those insights flow through the pages and into the world. The idea for Perfume and Underwear came to him from his teen age stepdaughter, who insisted on wearing the same over-powering perfume every day. After enduring this olfactory torture on the daily morning drive to school, Michael suggested she should perhaps treat her selection of perfume as underwear and change it every day. Her look of disdain ended the conversation, with her mother rock-solid in support of her use of perfume, but the idea had been born, and of course he already had the perfect title--Perfume and Underwear. Through the following years, approximately 700 sayings had been accumulated. Unfortunately many had to be discarded due to wording or content which would not have been appropriate in today's over-reacting, politically correct social climate. Although, there are a few zingers thrown in. You will have to read the book to locate those of the remaining 450 that made the selection. Although Perfume and Underwear contains no harrowing experiences of physical survival, this guide will enable you to understand and cope with the many social nuances, or even adversities, that we encounter in our daily lives. There are occasional humorous sayings, such as; IT'S PARTY TIME: You should be pasting and posting in preparation for basting and roasting, so you will have time to do your tasting and toasting. scattered about to ease you through those that may elicit more thought, such as; DON'T ARGUE: Do it by the book until you learn to write your own. Your socks probably will not be knocked off. This book will help you keep them on as you scurry around narrow and winding pathways, across questionable bridges, up and over rocky mountains, and along the hustle and bustle of life's roadways. After all is said and done, do remember to stop once in awhile, take a deep breath of fresh air, smell the flowers, have a shower, smile and--most importantly--change your Perfume and Underwear every day. Perspectives--like perfume and underwear--need to be changed frequently. This is the book to help you change yours!
