Résumé du livre
In my attempt to study classical painting and analyze the brush stroke, the light, the poetry of the painting and it's earthly choice of color, I quickly realized there is nothing I can add to an art that has been mastered and perfected.
In search of something unique and personal, I found out that there is only one thing I can do that will enrich these paintings - the thing was simply taking away everything from it, de-constructing it, destroying it and reassembling it.
I took away the brush strokes, the light and the poetry of the paintings and made them bolder, stronger - "juicier".
Keeping the authentic feel and rhythm of the painting, I strove to perfect the art of taking away from it while keeping its soul intact.
In my opinion modern era has helped a lot with this concept, it is rare to find time to ponder the details of the artwork. We are using speed to quickly scan the painting, and moving on into the next.
The Masters I chose to take from are:
Botticelli
Caravaggio
David
Micheal Angelo
Rafaello
Rubens
Titian
Vermeer
