Résumé du livre

Captain Edward Cooke was a successful Captain and Privateer. He played a major role in the most successful privateering expedition of the early 18th Century. Sailing with Captains Woodes Rogers and William Dampier aboard the Duke and Dutchess, he took part in capturing one of the rich Manila prizes and fought in several engagements with the Spanish on land and on the South Sea.

Cooke kept a detailed journal of their adventures and augmented it with historical accounts of the Incan Empire, the exploration of the Amazon River, and the Spaniard's conquest of New Spain, Peru, and Chili. His journal was published with maps of the Amazon, South Seas and coast of America plundered from Spanish prizes. From the plundered Spanish Waggoners, he provides the hitherto most detailed description of the seas and coasts of the Spanish Americas: from California to Cape Horn. Includes hundreds of images and maps.
