Résumé du livre

It is conceivable that indiscriminate and continued discharge of raw sewage might induce other known human enteric pathogens like Salmonella and Shigella to become sequentially adapted to establish similar annual cycles in nature. It is virtually impossible to prevent natural contamination of seafoods with the autochthonous bacteria inhabiting a particular ecological niche and so foodborne pathogens capable of establishing annual cycles in natural environs pose a grave potential public health hazard. It is thus imperative to conduct regular monitoring of known bacterial pathogens and to evolve necessary stringent microbiological standards for seafoods from coastal waters. This paper presents a perspective on the facets given above. [Authors' abstract].
