Memoirs of a Jew born in Zamość in 1921, describing his period of internment in Majdanek in summer 1943: life in the camp, the behavior of Jews and non-Jews, scenes he witnessed in the camp, and conversations with inmates. After seven weeks he was taken, along with 1,500 other Jews, for forced labor in the HASAG factory in Skarżysko-Kamienna. Later he was transferred to Buchenwald, where he was liberated in April 1945. After the war Strigler settled in Paris; in 1953 he moved to New York. Since 1986 he has been an editor of the "Forverts".
