Phenotypic Evaluation of F1[broblasts in Normal, Skin and Hypertrophic Scar

The ultrastructural features of the dermal fibroblasts in hypertrophic scar and normal skin were examined be trans mission electron microscopy. Nuclear morphometry of the fibroblasts at the ultrastructural level was also evaluated. Electronmicrograph negatives of the fibroblasts were analysed on a copystand via a Variocam CCD camera on line with the Kontron KS 400 imaging system. Salient morphological features included the presence of myofibroblasts and the close association of collagen fibres to the dermal fibroblasts in hypertrophic scars. There were no significant differences in the nuclear parameters analysed between the two groups. [Authors' abstract].
